MinMax: The Innovative Folding Bicycle for City Commuters

An Urban Solution for Sustainable Mobility

In the field of sustainable mobility, the role of the bicycle, and in particular, the folding bicycle, has become increasingly important for design research. However, many existing models on the market are not truly foldable, too heavy, and lack ergonomic adjustability. Monica Oddone, a renowned designer, has addressed these issues with her latest creation, MinMax.

MinMax is an innovative folding bicycle designed specifically for the needs of city commuters. What sets it apart is its revolutionary foldable wheels, which make it incredibly easy to carry everywhere. With three configurations - riding, dragging, and packing - MinMax can be conveniently stored in a backpack at home, the office, or even on public transport.

One of the standout features of MinMax is its adaptability. The basic model can be easily transformed into an electric version with a brushless motor and a battery, providing an eco-friendly alternative for longer commutes.

The construction of MinMax showcases the designer's attention to detail and commitment to quality. The bike frame is made from 7005 aluminum alloy with TIG welding, ensuring durability and strength. The handlebar and saddle are both adjustable, allowing riders to find their optimal riding position. The cardanic transmission guarantees minimal maintenance and reliable performance.

When it comes to dimensions, MinMax offers impressive versatility. In riding configuration, it measures 1450 mm x 530 mm x 950 mm, while in dragging configuration, it reduces to 700 mm x 530 mm x 650 mm. When completely folded in packing configuration, it occupies a compact space of 580 mm x 360 mm x 400 mm. Despite its functionality, MinMax remains lightweight, weighing between 9 and 9.5 kg.

The development of MinMax was not just a technical challenge; it also required a deep understanding of the evolving needs of urban commuters. Monica Oddone recognized the importance of reinventing the wheel, both literally and metaphorically, to create a compact solution that not only functions flawlessly but also resonates emotionally with its users.

MinMax has already received recognition for its exceptional design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Vehicle, Mobility, and Transportation Design category in 2020. This prestigious accolade is bestowed upon designs that demonstrate outstanding creativity, resourcefulness, and a commitment to improving quality of life.

With MinMax, Monica Oddone has successfully reimagined the folding bicycle, offering a stylish, practical, and sustainable solution for city commuters. Its unique design and innovative features make it a standout choice for those seeking a convenient and eco-friendly mode of transportation.
